I had a big surprise a few weeks ago. I was hunting up and down the creek for worms, diving and coming up again. Suddenly I saw people on the bank – more people! I thought, ‘Are they all coming to live down here?’ But they were different to the noisy men with notices who have been coming since April.

These ones were sitting really still and quiet – that’s why I didn’t spot them for a long time. They had cameras and notebooks and wore t-shirts, not hard hats. I could see that all the t-shirts had a drawing of a platypus and the words ‘Looking out for platypus’ printed along the front. Very nice. I wonder who they were?
