Winter WAM is a Winner - October 2010

The Maggies

Wildlife Australia Magazine (WAM), Winter 2010 issue, has been voted the 'Best Science, Technology & Nature Cover'.

'We would like to thank everyone who voted for us in The Maggies Magazine Covers Awards 2010. The WAM production team is excited to be a category winner alongside such high profile magazines as Who, Vogue Australia, Waves and Better Homes and Gardens', said Production Manager Ewa Meyer.

The Awards have raised over $17,000 for children's cancer charity Camp Quality through publisher donations, with this figure set to rise, as $1 from every magazine subscription purchased with the $5.00 iSUBSCRiBE gift voucher going to charity.

Initiated by online subscription company, iSUBSCRiBE, and sponsored by Australia Post, the covers entered in The Maggies were shortlisted by a panel of industry heavyweights, chaired by Ita Buttrose. This shortlist was then put to an public vote at www.themaggies.com.au, where over 75,000 votes from the public were cast during a five week period.

The overall winner was the September 2009 issue of 'Vogue Australia.'

About Wildlife Australia Winter 2010 Cover

This image was taken by Martin Cohen, researcher and Wildlife Australia contributor. It is a fringed treefrog found in the rainforests of Australia's Cape York and New Guinea. This photo was taken after a long, difficult 4WD into Kulla National Park followed by a two-hour hike. 'It was the first time I had seen the species and I was thrilled', says Martin. 'The frog obliged by posing for the camera.'
