Wildlife Queensland is extremely disappointed with the State Government's recent decision to approve a permit application for a high speed power boat race in Moreton Bay Marine Park. This comes after the Federal Government made a decision that the race would not require approval under the EPBC Act as long as it proceeded in the manner in which it was proposed.

Verbal advice from Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service indicates that the race has been permitted subject to conditions, however as yet we have not been forwarded the full extent of those conditions. This decision conflicts with Government policy and demonstrates the Bligh Government's inconsistent approach towards caring for wildlife and the environment.
