WAM45: Wildlife Australia's 45th anniversary - November 2008

An anniversary is a good excuse for a party, so this year, when Wildlife Australia Magazine marked 45 years of continuous publication by a community conservation group, we invited you to celebrate. With subscribers all over Australia and the world, we didn’t expect everyone to show up, but we were delighted to welcome nearly 80 guests including 4 past presidents on the evening of 9 November 2008.

Griffith University EcoCentre, with its forest setting and eco-friendly technologies, was an ideal venue. WPSQ president Simon Baltais compered the evening, past president Adrian Caneris whisked us through 45 years of magazine history in 15 minutes and WAM contributor Michael Snedic, with the help of photographer and filmmaker Glen Threlfo, launched his new book, Wildlife of Australia: a nature photographer’s journey.

Thank you to everyone who helped with the planning and set up – good parties don’t just happen – and thank you to everyone who took the time to join us. We wish you could all have been there.

If you missed the party – or if you were there – here are a few photos
