Traveston EIS submission deadline extended - November 2007

The cover of the proposed Traveston Crossing Dam EIS executive summary

The Queensland Government has announced that the deadline for submissions to the Coordinator-General about the environmental impact statement on the Traveston Crossing Dam has been extended until 14 January 2008. All other conditions for submissions remain the same.

The Queensland Parliament ePetition requesting an extension to the deadline, which was introduced by the Save the Mary River Group and sponsored by Gympie MP David Gibson, received 1800 ‘signatures’ in 9 days.

Getting the EIS publication

Hard copies of the EIS are available for $150 each from Queensland Water Infrastructure Pty Ltd (QWI), the private company formed by the state government to construct water infrastructure projects in south-east Queensland, including the proposed Traveston Crossing and Wyaralong dams.

Printed full copies of the technical reports are available from QWI at a cost of $400 each.

The full EIS (80MB) can be downloaded for no cost from the QWI website. A CD-ROM version is also available for no cost by mail from QWI.

Making a submission

Wildlife Queensland will be making a submission on behalf of its members. You can make a separate submission by following these steps.

1. Download the EIS from QWI or obtain a copy by mail.

2. Get advice on making a submission: follow the ‘how to make submissions’ link from Save the Mary River

3. Make your submission before 3 December 2007 if possible. Address your submission to:
