Dr Len Webb enthusing students at Tully State High School Rainforest Reserve opening in 1982
The Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland is saddened by the death of Dr Len Webb AO, former Senior Principal Research Scientist in the CSIRO Rainforest Ecology Unit, Honorary Professor of Environmental Studies at Griffith University, and past Vice-President of WPSQ. When he joined WPSQ's environmental cause in 1963, Dr Webb was the only rainforest ecologist in Australia.
The most recent of WPSQ’s historical papers 'Heart and Mind: WPSQ finding directions in the 60s' details the valuable role that Dr Webb played in ensuring that the work of the Society was based on sound scientific information. This is fundamental to the direction and actions we undertake to this day.
