The Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland (WPSQ) presents
A Visual Journey with Steve Parish
Every picture tells a story and especially so when that picture is by Steve Parish, Australia's premier nature photographer. From the intimacy of wild animals raising their young to the majesty of great deserts, Steve has captured great moments in Australia's natural environment and brought them to public attention.
This special fundraising event will take you on a photographic odyssey through Australia's wild places with Steve Parish. Proceeds will aid the Society's dedicated conservation efforts in Queensland to help preserve and protect our unique flora and fauna.
'The key to environmental protection, is first awareness, and secondly education,' says Manda LePeilbet, WPSQ's Fundraising Manager. 'Steve's images create the awareness, and then his multi-award winning publications take it a step further to educate the community about Australia's wildlife. He was the first person to truly bring wildlife into people's homes. Steve has a long-standing association with the Society and we are extremely grateful for his ongoing efforts in environmental education and for donating his time at this event.'
WPSQ is Queensland's oldest and largest wildlife conservation group. Judith Wright, a champion of the 'Save the Great Barrier Reef' campaign was one of the founders of the Society in 1962, hence the venue choice - the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts. Recent campaigns undertaken by WPSQ have included endangered species projects, such as the Coxens Fig Parrot and the Northern Hairy-Nosed Wombat, as well as Platypus Care, monitoring the distribution of Platypus in Queensland.
Steve is not only a talented and dedicated photographer. He is also an engaging storyteller and a passionate promoter of our natural environment. Whether your interest is in photography or simply that you appreciate the beauty of the Australian landscape and wildlife, this special event is for everyone to enjoy.
Tickets are $20, which includes a complimentary beverage and canapés. Advance bookings essential. All proceeds will be used to support WPSQ's wildlife projects.
