Queensland's Environment, Local Government and Planning Minister Desley Boyle has moved to stop the Douglas Shire Council allowing development in the Daintree World Heritage Area.
In a letter to the Council dated 15 September, Minister Boyle called on reserve powers of the state and directed Douglas Shire Council to reinstate the temporary ban that councillors had voted to abandon the previous day.
The Council voted 4-3 this morning to stand by yesterday's decision to overturn a Temporary Local Planning Instrument put in place by Council in June this year.
Councillors also refused a direction by the Minister to introduce a new ban.
