Bilby Brothers - The Men Who Killed the Easter Bunny - March 2002

On 2nd March 2002, at a special event in Brisbane, the new video 'Bilby Brothers - The Men Who Killed the Easter Bunny', was launched.

This is the story of an extraordinary fight to build a fence. A fence that will enclose 25 square kilometres of Currawinya, one of Queensland's most remote and beautiful national parks - all to help save Queensland's fast vanishing bilby from extinction. Bilbies are threatened by feral animals like foxes and cats; cattle destroy their natural habitat. Bilbies could soon be extinct ... but not if Peter McRae and Frank Manthey have their way.

Peter and Frank work for the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service in Charleville. Peter is a Zoologist; Frank is a Senior Ranger. They are the driving forces - the dynamos - behind the 'Save the Bilby Fund'.

Produced by Gulliver Media Australia, the video documents, in spectacular high definition format, the battle over the past decade to save the bilby, through the passion of these two 'Bilby Brothers' who give hope to the future of this intriguing little animal.

The video can be obtained through WPSQ, direct from Frank Manthey at Charleville. Profits from the sale of the video will provide much needed financial support to the 'Save the Bilby Fund' (AUD$25 inc postage & packing within Australia).
