Give wildlife a future

Rufous bettong The best thing about Rufous Bettongs is that they are not extinct. It doesn't matter that these pretty little wallabies have cute faces and handsome rusty fur. What is wonderful is that you can see one if you want to. The worst thing about Platypus Frogs is that they are extinct. It does matter that they had lovely popping eyes and carried their young in their stomachs. What is awful is that you cannot see one even if you wanted to.

The worst thing about loving wildlife is continually having to fight extinctions. You want our beautiful native animals to live, but what can one person do?

Years ago I found the answer to this big question - I found the Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland. What I discovered was an effective, dedicated community of people who were willing to fight for the things I loved. I was impressed. They were in the field with our animals; they were stopping the clearing of our precious trees; they were in the courts contesting unneeded land developments. And they were in the politicians' offices telling them what I, the voter, thought and wanted.

Our wildlife needs the Wildlife Preservation Society more than ever! Don't be complacent! Stand up for a safe future for our living heritage!
