Risk to threatened species at Government’s hand
The Queensland Government is currently considering an application for a race of approximately 25-30 high speed power boats to be held at Redcliffe within close proximity to Scott’s Point, a marine national park zone. The proposed route is also close to wetlands of national and international significance (Ramsar wetlands).
Wildlife Queensland is strongly opposed to this race. It should not be permitted. We tell you why.

Would you like to see a quoll up close?
Come to our Quoll Discovery Day in Ballandean on Sunday 29 August and meet a live quoll up close! The Granite Belt is one of their last strongholds in southern Queensland. Find out all about this intriguing carnivorous marsupial.
Dr Scott Burnett will present results from his latest studies and discuss the role of the local community in conservation. Local ranger Jo McLellan will update us about recent quoll sightings in the area and we will visit the quoll-proof poultry pen at Ballandean State School. To reserve your place, see What’s On. |
Wild rivers, marine parks … in jeopardy
Federal Opposition Leader, Tony Abbott, recently announced that if elected as Prime Minister, he intends to overturn Queensland’s world class Wild Rivers legislation.
During a recent visit to Mackay, he also announced that, if elected, he would immediately put on hold the Marine Bioregional Planning process which, ironically, was a process started by the former Coalition Government.
What can we do?

Spring into Wildlife Australia Magazine
Soaring raptors, battling grasshoppers, wildlife in the trees - we're looking up for spring - and also down: meeting kangaroos in the leaf litter and shining some light on fishes from the oceans depths to shallows. It's all about wildlife with altitude - and, in some case, with attitude as well.
Enjoy meeting a great cross-section of wildlife as we leap into spring with Wildlife Australia.

The Coal Seam Gas Revolution
Aspects of the Coal Seam Gas industry (CSG) are escalating at an exponential rate. There are justified concerns rising not only in the conservation movement but sectors of the broader community are alarmed at what is occurring. There were angry protests outside Parliament this month.
We tell you why this technology should be banned. |
Balloons Balloons Balloons
Wildlife Queensland understands the Queensland State Government is considering a ban of balloons being released at State run events.
Wildlife Queensland welcomes any initiative by the Queensland State Government to reduce or stop the release of balloons into the environment from events run or organised by the State Government.
