Protecting our Bushland
Campaign
'Sign the ePetition/ send the postcard'. That's the call to action from the newest stage of Wildlife
Queensland's Protecting our Bushland
Campaign. Organise signatures on the electronic or paper petition and lobby your local member and ministers
as part of a postcard campaign. We want WPSQ supporters to pressure the Queensland Government to strengthen
the Vegetation Management Act 1999
that is supposed to protect bushland habitat.

Now see the movie
The controversial new documentary on climate change 'An Inconvenient Truth' is being screened as part of the
Brisbane International Film Festival. An entertaining presentation of irrefutable evidence that rising carbon
dioxide emissions are changing our climate, the film stars former Vice-President of the USA and environment
activist, Al Gore.
Wildlife Queensland, in association with BIFF, is inviting two eBulletin subscribers to the Queensland premiere
on Friday 4 August. Visit the Queensland Government ePetition
site, answer a simple question
before 28 July and a random winner will receive two complimentary tickets to 'An Inconvenient Truth' at 4.30
pm 4 August at The Palace Centro in New Farm, Brisbane.

Japan's whalers now a legal target
The hunter will become the hunted thanks to a decision by the Australian Full Federal Court to allow the Humane
Society International to serve legal proceedings on Japanese whaling company Kyodo Senpaku Kaisha Ltd.
HSI alleges the company has contravened the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Act 1999 by killing Minke
whales in the whale sanctuary adjacent to the Australian Antarctic Territory.

WPSQ Whitsunday loses
appeal
The Federal Court has dismissed the case brought against the Federal Government by WPSQ Whitsunday Branch (with
assistance from EDO and EDO NQ).
However, a referral for an extension of the coal mine at Isaac Plains has been withdrawn because the mine owner's
