Welcome to the July 2009 my.Wildlife. In our June ebulletin we asked ‘what will you do to save the koala?’ In response, readers wrote passionate, angry and persuasive letters to Queensland’s Environment Minister about the loss of south-east Queensland’s koalas and copied their letters to us.
Congratulations to Barbara, Carole and Carolyn whose letters were drawn at random from all entries; we will send them a koala notebook each for their efforts. And well done all of you who wrote to the Queensland and federal governments on behalf of this beleaguered species. If you want to do more – see our invitation to join the parliamentary e-petition on behalf of koalas.

Do one more thing for koalas
The koala is likely to become extinct in South-East Queensland unless the State government and local authorities act now.
What are you doing to save the south-east Queensland koala population? If you are a Queensland resident you can sign the Queensland Parliament e-petition.
The e-petition is just one way of being active to save the SEQ koala – find out more.

Wildlife Australia Magazine
What does it mean to be bald? How far can a glider glide? Is deer hunting a conservation activity in Australia? How long until it's warm enough to 'twitch' for reptiles on quiet back roads?
Spend a cosy evening exploring these questions as you go 'on the road' with our winter issue of WAM. You can also plan your next eco-holiday and travel with humpback whales.
