Welcome to December's my.Wildlife eBulletin, the final issue for 2006. Wildlife Queensland only started sending
out eBulletins at the beginning of this year but we've found it a wonderful way to keep you in informed about
wildlife issues. We hope you've enjoyed receiving these regular updates.
And what a year it has been for wildlife and conservation! Remember some of these topics we've put you in touch
with?

On the legal side
There was the recent triumph of the legislation
permanently banning the recreational shooting of duck
and quail.
And just last month we announced the landmark decision in which saw bats flying free when a fruit farmer was
ordered to dismantle the electric grids he had
used to kill thousands of flying foxes.

People and Conservation
In October we acknowledged the loss
of Steve Irwin and welcomed Lindy Nelson-Carr
as Queensland's new Environment Minister.
In August a lucky member signed the Queensland Government ePetition to Save
our Bushland and won tickets to the Queensland premiere of 'An
Inconvenient Truth', the movie that got the whole of Australia talking about climate change.

All About Wildlife
The eBulletin also carried news about Wildlife
Queensland activities: the funding for the survey to find the spotted-tail
quoll around North Beaudesert; we invited you to take part in the Platypus
Care survey training in the river catchments around Brisbane; we asked for your input to the curlew
management plan for Moreton Bay , and we introduced the Queensland
Glider Network.
Best wishes to all our subscribers for 2007.
