The future of wildlife in Queensland will be decided this month when the High Court hears an appeal against a 2005 judgement that a farmer who killed thousands of flying foxes was not contravening the Nature Conservation Act 1992. The decision will either strengthen Queensland wildlife laws or allow widespread killing of wildlife.

Environment groups in Queensland have formed a partnership to influence the environmental policies of political parties before the next state or federal elections. Rather than wait and see what election manifestos contain, the group will agree a united approach to 12 target issues and then advocate those views to the main political parties.

The Queensland Glider Network, part of WPSQ's Gliders in the Spotlight program, has received a grant from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund. The funding will pay for a coordinator who will run the network's activities.

Brush-tailed rock wallabies at Perseverance Dam, near Crows Nest, one of the last colonies of this vulnerable species in south-east Queensland are being decimated by traffic. Wildlife Queensland Toowoomba Branch and head office are battling to save them.
