Our Branch usually has four meetings a year, the Activities Officer arranging the venue with property owners or National Parks.  While wet weather curtails more widespread travel in La Nina years, our trips have taken us to Central Queensland's National Parks, sandstone gorges, gasfields, coal mines, boggomosses, wetlands and forests.

Under the leadership of our Project Officer, we have responded to every EIS for every developmental project proposed for our area and Executive members have attended conferences relevant to our interest in preserving the unique environment of our part of Central Queensland. We have encouraged various levels of Government to take stronger action to prevent the destruction of remnant native vegetation by fire fuelled by ungrazed exotic grasses, inappropriate development and under resourcing of protected areas.  We have had input to Shire and State Environmental Plans and Stock Route management plans.

Some of our members have written nature notes for local publications, and enjoy bird-watching and plant identification. We like to support the local wildlife carer in the rescue and recovery of injured or displaced animals including echidnas, lizards and gliders.

Photographers, artists or camping and wildlife enthusiasts are always welcome to come and learn with us about this wonderful natural world in which we live.
